My RAT1 arrived unexpectedly today. Fit and finish are good, but the handle feels slick despite its texturing. The liner locks up a bit earlier than my RAT2, which actually makes it easier to operate without feeling less secure. I think the RAT1 is too large for me to EDC, but I knew that would be the case before it arrived. Based on my RAT2 (also AUS-8 steel), I wouldn't have high expectations for the RAT2's edge retention, but that doesn't matter as much to me since it won't see much use. After ordering this RAT1 from MD, I was inspired to pick up a RAT2, and ESEE Zancudo & Avispa. The Avispa is too large for me to EDC, which is why I knew the RAT1 would also be too large. Compared to my regular EDC ZT0808, the RAT1 has almost 0.75" additional handle length and about 0.25" additional blade length (although the cutting length of the blades is about the same). Got my knife. Really impressed with it, honestly. I was using a Cold Steel Code 4 for a long time, but it got pretty dull and the blade had some nicks in it. I sharpened it a lot but I wasn't able to get it back to its former glory so far. Decided to get something cheap as an EDC until I got around to more properly restoring my Code 4. Didn't expect much from the price, honestly, but it's a very comfortable and sharp knife. I'm very happy with it.
