Characterized by its bold, easy-to read dial, there’s no mistaking the Orient Mako XL, especially underwater—which is perhaps where it gets its name, in reference to the Mako shark. With large white indexes and a bright orange dial, the watch is highly visible; the lumed, spear-shaped hands and lumed markers only enhance the clarity. In contrast to the dial is the unidirectional, rotating black bezel, which can be set to keep track of elapsed time. A pusher at 2 adjusts the day, which is displayed in both English and Spanish. To adjust the time and date, use the screw-down crown at 3 o’clock.
