Pretty solid starter pen. I bought this for what looked like a clean-yet-bold design, which I'm liking even more in person. I'm definitely considering upgrading the nib.

So, like, super early 2018 holiday season item.....?

Great news group we placed the group's order shortly after the drop ended and the vendor has let us know that the group's order has already been picked up and is on its way to our warehouse now. Based on the tracking provided these are scheduled to come in 12/15. Our warehouse team has been forwarded tracking info and will be standing by, ready to get these packed up and turned around as soon as they come in.
Sometimes shipments get delayed en route, not to worry as we will keep the group posted throughout the process and notify you all if anything causes delay.
Thanks for your patience and expect an update from us on 12/16 or sooner if something comes up.
Just starting out in the hobby after recovering a fountain pen i got 1993 (La infinita). So I seeking to try it with a custom ink. And like everyone said before, there´s no stipulation on having to use them together. Also having a pilot parallel coming in so who knows how it all works out.
If the pairing of the Pilot White Tiger and the Chivor is not ideal, what about Noodler's Heart of Darkness and/or Liberty's Elysium? I have a Noodler's Ink "Charlie" pen that lays down a thicker line. Perhaps this pen will be better suited to using the Chivor. What are your thoughts?
Stormy Grey did NOT work in my F nib white tiger pen (shimmer did not come through) but works in my Jinhao M as long as I don't let it settle. I haven't tried Emerald but I assume it would be similar. I love the Pilot and I love the 1670 inks, I just would not use the two together. Noodler's Baystate inks are my favorite for the Pilot fine nib if you're wondering what to try.
I am new to to fountain pens, and would love to know what the best nibs are for this beautiful ink. Thanks in advance for any advice
Not a good pairing of pen and ink. These inks show off their unique qualities best in either a broad nib, or a fat medium nib (I use M Jinhaos and Bexleys for 1670 inks). I also wouldn't use such a saturated ink in a white pen! Still, I guess you don't have to use them together just because you buy them together.

Will they be half decent together anyway? I can always buy the proper ink for the Metro once I run out of the Emerald? Thanks in advance! :)

The ink will write, but if it's like the Stormy Grey I used in this pen, you won't get any of the shimmer. Since the flakes aren't coming through when writing, I'd worry that going through the full bottle would cause problems for the pen.
This will be a perfect christmas gift for my wife. She has been trying to steal my Pilot Metro since I got it.
I bought the White Tiger last month, but I'm itching to get this just for the ink. Anyone know where I might be able to get the ink online? (Preferably at a good price?)

Thanks to the both of you. I'm gonna pounce for the ink!
I believe the Ink Journal is optional (ie not included but + $16)
I don't think there's any rule that says because you buy them together that this ink must be used with this pen. I've wanted Chivor for a while and already have several appropriate pens for it. I also have several Pilots - would like another - and they work great with the other inks in my collection. So I'm looking at it as a way to get two things I have on my list of wants - it doesn't matter if they happen to come as a package deal. It is really a great value considering the 50 converter comes with it.

Yeah, this. I'd get them both because I've been wanting to try both, but it doesn't mean they have to be used together. This set is actually pretty perfect for me because I tend to get only one of a kind of pen, and since all the drops for the Pilot Metropolitan have been doubles, now I can get one with a great ink at a really cheap price.

Same here! I've been wanting a Pilot Metro and this ink, but wouldn't use them together (almost always use these inks with dip pens). Goulet has been selling out rather quickly, and it's currently $27.00 on Jetpens, so this is looking pretty good to me! http://www.jetpens.com/J.-Herbin-1670-Anniversary-Fountain-Pen-Ink-50-ml-Bottle-Emerald-of-Chivor/pd/14633
If I haven't gotten the pen and ink I'd get it because of the ink journal.
Ya this is a very poor combo IMO. Not only are the thinner nibs not good for this ink but all my Metro's are on the drier side which will make the ink even more blah
In my opinion the fine nib on this pen is not the best choice to showcase the qualities of this ink.

Agree, seems like even a metropolitan M nib would be too thin.
