This is an excellent set of speakers (in my opinion). I bought them as an upgrade to the bookshelf speakers of the same series, and run them in a 2.1 configuration driven by a TEAC UD-501/TEAC AX-501 pair over 12AWG OFC (Monoprice # 9343 generic for the win), using the Pioneer SW-8MK2 8" sub high level input wired serial with the speakers. Subwoofer is really only needed for movies and EDM where you want that extra rumble, their normal bass output is more than sufficient for most music and video. These easily fill a large bedroom with sound, to the point where I find I rarely drive them more than -40dB from the amplifier; too loud.
I've seen complaints about washed out mid range and do not hear it with my set.
I'd totally buy these again if I had need for speakers elsewhere. They aren't the best on the market overall, but definitely an amazing option in the price bracket.
