PUMA Skinner Fixed Blade Knife

I have this exact model knife, (6393) purchased about 20 years ago. It’s hard to sharpen well, but really holds an edge, even cutting through moose hair and hide. If this is German production, it‘s a great price.

My father was/is a big game guide during the '80s, and PUMA is the knife he used for skinning and caping in camp after the hunt.  He used it for many years, and finally retired it after almost losing it on the mountainside one day (there were grizzlies trying to move on an animal they had taken, it was dark, things got...hectic).  It is definitely a user, not just a looker (although it is that as well).

Puma has been around longer than most. It is a traditionalist old school knife. The knives made in germany are well regarded--they go so far as to individually rockwell test each and every knife (at least they did 20 years ago). There should be a small dent the size of a grain of sand on the side of each blade where a prob was pushed down into the metal to determine rockwell hardness of the blade--to guarantee that every knife sent out is up to spec. That's impressive since no other knife company that I know of tests every knife in this way. This seems to be a good price and it is definitely a user rather than display knife.
