cliff_badgerIt still works out cheaper for me since I live in Norway, Amazon use couriers and that item has $39.70 shipping charges but on here massdrop is really reasonable, just $7.58 with shipping
These are definitely more student grade than artist grade, they are pretty but lose clarity quickly when you try to mix colours and also tend to have lower lightfastness. Good paints for sketching though.
kruthikaSome are, some aren't, but they tend toward chalky, yeah. Some colors are also pretty weak/thin regardless of how much you presoak, so that's something to consider too.
sewmmeI was wondering this too since Blick recently listed these studio sets and placed them under Artist grade, and I thought that maybe it was a new formulation, but when I went to look, per https://sakuraofamerica.com/water-color-studio-sets :
> High quality student grade half pan watercolors, formulated to blend easily
I'd list Koi as above average for student grade, but if you're looking for professional grade, it definitely won't compare.
