More than simply a dive watch, Seiko’s Prospex Marinemaster 300 is a cult piece. It’s a modern spin-off of the company’s first dive watch, which was released exactly 50 years ago, in 1965, and it features the same retro look: black dial, large lumed hour markers, thick case, wide black bezel. But what’s truly unique about the MM300, as it’s known, is less visible.
Note: Since this is a Japanese domestic market model, the manufacturer warranty is only valid is Japan. This watch is covered under a Massdrop 2-year warranty. These watches will be shipped from the US. This drop is limited to 12 units.
For one, it’s equipped with Seiko 8L35 automatic 26-jewel movement, beating at 28,800 beats per hour. It also features a 50-hour power reserve, which allows it to remain accurate even when it’s been idle for more than 2 days. Milled from a solid block of 316L stainless steel, the monocoque case is also different from most watches. Combined with the screw-down crown and the dual-curved Hardlex crystal, it’s no wonder the MM300 has garnered a following among divers and watch enthusiasts alike.
