Buyer beware, these are not even worth USD70. There is virtually no noise cancelling; just a hiss. The sound is also deplorable; like an old transistor radio in your ears. These were obviously an epic fail on the part of Sony. My recommendation is to steer clear of the NC85D and save up for some real noise-cancellers (or any other headphone for that matter).
I will probably gift these to someone I don't like.

nantipaneithThank you for following up, I've been waiting for someone's take on these since my research told me to steer clear myself. Now obviously a fortunate decision. Sorry to hear about your experience though. Shame on Sony for this one. (And they were initially charging $500!!!! for these...wow). The gall.

Also to those who will complain or complained "oh I need to charge it only on my computer and not the wall." Buy a wall adapter. If you don't have one try investing in one. Anker has a great 6 usb one. Cellphones and tables now-a-days don't come with wall adapters and I'm glad of that, no need to have a collection of wall adapters.

It's weird that these are not showing up in the Audiophile massdrop community - from what is being said, it's probably because they are such crap and not really 'audiophile' caliber.

Gosh this is so interesting , ordered and canceled , tempted to order again , I'm just so scared of these I mean , there must be something to them if bunch of guys decided it's 500$ worth , and 70$ is not that bad , but idk everyone diss on the bass that it's not the best around... And idk... I'm afraid I'm going to waste an opportunity

SkullbunnyWell many seem to say it's not worth the price tag of 499. Many seem to say if it was cheaper at 100-200 USD it would be decent. But this has one bonus compared to most others.... is that there is no stupid battery box weighing down the cable. And no random buttons to adjusting for the NC.

This drop says nc85d but are these the xba-nc85d?? When I googled them it said the xba-nc85d are $499 ,,, if this drop are those for $69 that's either the deal of a lifetime , there's something wrong or there's 2 nc85d. Models

Ron.bernardI think they're one and the same. "Great deal" was what I thought as well until I read the Amazon reviews on these. It's obvious Sony heinously overcharged for these at $500 but one reviewer said he wouldn't even take these if they were free. Lol. They appear to be discontinued by Sony, which mostly explains their clearance-level pricing. However I honestly can't tell myself if they're even worth the $70.

Ron.bernardI believe the xba means international model. While the regular is Asia only model.

Hateful reviews aside, what do you even use to drive 800 ohm earbuds? I've never heard of speakers of any single-ear size with that resistance.

Z4KJ0N3SAll noise cancelling head/ear phones have a high impedance when active. They are internally amped so pretty much anything will drive them.
