The Most Powerful Element
The earspeakers, the SR-407, feature the same sound element as Stax’s top of the line model, the SR-507. A wide diaphragm utilizes similar principles to how sound is originally recorded, giving you a more faithful rendering. Encased in tough resin, the active element builds on over 30 years of release to bring the cleanest and most reliable sound in Stax’s history. The earspeakers were finished in thin-film “Super Engineering Plastics” material, which protects the unit from temperature and humidity interference while enabling rich lows and delicate highs.

Providing the necessary juice for the earspeakers, the Class-A electrostatic amplifier, the SRM-006tS, was engineered to eliminate every possible source of distortion. Relays are close to the input for a short signal path, high-voltage dual vacuum tubes boost the output stage, two-stage amplification with low noise FET expands the input stage, and the mutual interference between the amplifier and earspeakers has been eliminated by alternating signals.
