anyone know the name of the cable used to connect the two together? one of my speakers gets crackly sounds for certain frequencies so I think the cable might have frayed a bit.
" I cannot recommend the Swan D1010-IV speakers enough ... for the best deal on the desktop, or audiophiles on a tight budget. ."
http://noaudiophile.com/Swan_D1010-IV/
Cheaper than Kanto Yu4, by a lot. And much less power. Comparable sound quality?
Would this not be cheaper at Chane Music and Cinema for the D1080IV because of the free shipping there? And it would ship sooner.
Requesting hivi d1080 specifically- not the 1010. I believe other customers have requested the same.
Sorry for the confusion, everyone! The only available option in this drop was the D1010 MK IV. The D1080 was leftover in from a previous drop where it was an option.
Matt.T
can we REQUEST/POLL the 1080??
Really hope the audioengine d1 or hivi m200mkiii speakers go on sale. This is the setup I'm looking for for my computer. Still thinking about getting this for my TV.
I currently have Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers. Would these be an upgrade?
Malone1011
More like a side grade, they sound more like the M10's but without the subwoofer. Crystal clear mids and highs with more bass than the M10's. The Promedia's subwoofer is no slouch when you want bass you get bass. You'll lose the Klipsch bass but gain better mids and highs if that's what you're looking for.
If you're looking for an upgrade you might as well jump on the Yamaha HS8 Studio Monitor drop for $259.99 for each monitor. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/yamaha-hs8
Otherwise, if you want more clarity you can just simply replace the satellites in the Promedia with Tang Band W3-881SJ 3" Cast Frame Neodymium Driver. And if you want even more bass you could replace the subwoofer with Tang Band W6-1139SI 6-1/2" Subwoofer it would technically work but the box is not tuned for this subwoofer's frequency so you wouldn't get 100% full use of it. Replacing the Promedia's satellite drivers are the best thing you can do to the Promedia 2.1 set as the clarity is much better with the Tang Band drivers than the stock Promedia 2.1 drivers.
Could you flesh this out a bit more? Are the 1080's an option?
I want to get in on the HiVi D1010 Mk IV's but in the description there was a tease for "HiVi D1080 (+ $35)"??? Where is the option to purchase this model/upgrade. I assume you can get them for an additional $35.00?
Douger711
exactly!!!!!!!! C'mon Massdrop, get your act together!!!
Douger711
I am trying to join the drop and have the same problem. What is unusual is that the URL also has 'd1080' in it. I would prefer the option for the 1080s.
SIGHHHHHH :<
wish there was international shipping :<
Skullbunny
Well you would still need something to covert the current down from 220-230 V 50Hz (assuming you live in Europe) since the speakers use 110V at 60Hz. There's not much of a save by buying these speakers outside of North America.

Hi Arthur, is the option to upgrade to the 1080s available on this drop? I don't see it when I try to "join drop."
Is anyone switching from the D1080's to the M100's? If so, how do they compare?

what do i need to hook this up to my computer?
MichaelO
Cables are included.
why you not shipping to new zealand?
it-man
Too expensive shipping overseas, plus these are 120v/60Hz only for No. American Market.
These are GREAT speakers. Had them for years and love them. They have a nice deep rich sound.
Wow really disappointed these can't be shipped to Canada, was about to hop right on this drop until I realized I couldn't ship it to my address -.-"
So some updates bass is still heavy even with the knob all the way down and varying amounts of treble. I think part of the reason is because of how they are set up in my room and where I am listening from. When I go out in the hall they sound much less bass heavy so I think it may be a reverb problem. They sound great aside from bass heavy for my music tastes I'm sure it will be better for movies or games.
One complaint though WTF Massdrop putting the receipt on the shipping box for anyone to see the value of what's inside. Not cool at all, I'm surprised nobody tried to steal them.
got a quick listen before I had to leave. they sound amazing so far although a bit bass heavy but I'm sure I can fix that with the bass knob. I was also listening to rock so bass is a little out of place. I got the 1080s

I received D1080IV today. Well.... the sound is disappointing. I use DT880 + Centrance DAC mini now, in a comparison with D1080iv, sound is much clearer with DT880 and positions are more accurate. I don't like the bass of D1080iv, at all. It's just too much and influences treble performance. Overall, not recommend. Probably should go for something more expensive

Comparing any desktop speaker in a room environment to premium cans will always highlight differences. The room alone will predominate the sound of the speakers, and a two-way speaker in 2.0 stereo is going to appear significantly different than one-way (fullrange) headphones in binaural.

I received my D1080IV today and I think the intensity of the base is too much also. I wished I had not placed this order. I need something much smaller, lighter, and better quality. They are well made and look very nice but just not my taste.
thats very interesting.. mine shipped 2 days ago and are in transit already =P

Okay, thanks!
Sooo... How long should it take to get shipping information? I saw an estimated ship date of 4/28 is that accurate?
Hi - Considering these for my PC - However being in Australia we run 240V - I'm getting conflicting search results stating that this is 110V~240V - other saying it only supports 240v.
Is it possible for someone to confirm?
Thanks
Hoshino
All HiVi in North America are 120v/60Hz only. Using them with 220v will break them.
JonLane
Thanks @JonLane :) Appreciate it
Are these studio monitor types, or home speaker types?
