What is the ideal size to get? I was thinking Medium. Are Large and Extra-large a little too large to get? Certainly wouldn't want these to touch the dirty floor/ground when hung up during trip.
Well it's my brand so of course I'm biased. I think it's great. I've used them for years. Like any synthetic material it can smell funky if not washed and dried. But I really haven't noticed and I've taken them all over the world and used them for everything. It's not as comfy or fresh as a terry cotton towel, but it's not designed to be. Those are way bulky and heavy. And those can be stanky if they aren't washed either! They are pretty much the same as every other microfiber towel, IE packtowel brand. They all come from the same factory. This is just our branding on it.
I have the XL and it's really the minimum size I would want for a towel, even while travelling. It is big enough to wrap around and cover me comfortably, but no larger. If you fold it 3x then roll it up, it's about the size of a coke can. I wouldn't even think of bringing a bulky, difficult to dry cotton towel while travelling or backpacking.
sudevaYeah, it is weird that it's an extra dollar for the second and third towels. I thought at first that the $1 charge was to change colors, and if you got three of the same color and shape, it'd be $20, but nope, it seems $22 is the base price, which should be in the header rather than $20.
emptymI emailed them and got my dollar refunded (two XLs plus an L). You’ll feel pathetic, but it’s the right thing to do. Or maybe it’s the wrong thing! To each his own.
FWIW the towels are a useful weight. I’ll keep my thin Packtowl for ultra-light ultra-compact use, but for anything where you have a bit more flexibility and desire a slightly more, eh, luxurious experience, this is a good weight (of fabric, and actual scale weight) and bulk.
