Product Description
The Visconti Traveling Inkwell gives you an easy, low-profile way of taking your favorite ink on the road. Conveniently refill your fountain pen by pressing the grip section inside the the inkwell's tapered wall and turning the inkwell upside-down to take a full draw of ink Read More
The new inkwell is much better than the old one, the metal band gives it a MUCH more premium feel than the older all plastic model.
Just be careful if you're using a vac filler like a homo sapiens - expel most of the air from the filler before inserting it into the inkwell or you'll get a blowout. Lever fillers, just flip the lever before inserting, and button fillers should be fine.
The included ink wick is decent, and can be replaced by cutting strips out of 1/4in felt. Visconti will also send you some if you need (but the included one can be rinsed)
I think pineider's design is a little more effective but the visconti system is just cleaner, simpler, and fits in a pen case (the pineider one is too wide)
Do you use any portable battery charger with your smartphone? Travel Inkwell works like that. This can fill also some big pens like 149 and M1000, however needs causion with some plunger filler like Custom 823 and their honer Power Filler pens. I have experienced some times that ink flew out by over pressure.
Inkwell looks to be super useful and a real convenience; I only did a “dry run” using water as the instructions recommended.
That said, the main reason I did that is because the inkwell was packaged horribly for delivery - a flimsy padded envelope with absolutely zero protective padding that unsurprisingly crushed the more decorative (than protective) box it came in. Fortunately, the inkwell appears to have survived unscathed. Attached is a side-by-side picture in comparative packaging between the inkwell (envelope on the left) and the 2-set drop of Keith titanium chopsticks in a proper shipping box complete with inflated protective padding “balloons” on the right. Keep in mind the inkwell cost roughly three times the two sets of chopsticks did.
As a fountain pen enthusiast, the Visconti Traveling Inkwell is a very convenient item to own. It eliminates the need to carry bottles of ink with me in my travels. The inkwell was one of my most worthwhile investments.
Dropped it to the floor. The black cap broke completely. Fixed it with epoxy glue. Suggest to everyone to fill the cap inside with epoxy resin to make it harder, it is very fragile. The sponge you have their is not useful anyway...
This is a redesign of the original (which I bought elsewhere). The only bad thing is that it is made of glass, which means you have to treat it with a bit more respect when traveling. Otherwise it is a wonderful accessory.
