KoolaideWhy yell? According to the spec sheet this headphone shouldn't need an amplifier but yet it does. I wouldn't have bought them if I'd known. So now I'm stuck with a pretty paperweight until I buy an amplifier! Not happy!!!

Insanepageni believe these headphones are just breaking that threshold where an amp is required. These are a solid pair of headphones for a person wanting to dip their toes the great audiophile lake without spending upwards of $300 on just headphones( not including an amp that can drive them).

SirnewbingtonI broke down and ordered the fiio x5. Do you think that is strong enough?

Insanepageni believe so, ive never used one myself. but the built in amp should be enough for these headphones, they dont demand a lot. my cheap lil' SD-793II can handle them.

InsanepagenShould be. These are just on the edge of needing an amp, so a little boost in power should be perfect. If you wanted a little cleaner, maybe something a little stronger, but for just more volume that should work fine.

InsanepagenMine do not need an amp at all. They sound great plugged into phone and computer (MSI z97 krait and s7)

FaendolThat is good to hear. Though, before joining this drop, I joined the drop for the FiiO E10K. I think pairing these up should be nice. I can appreciate good sound, but my wallet won't let me get the things that I want. I wouldn't call getting these settling because I have heard/read that they are very good for their normal price range.

FaendolI just checked the tracking and it looks like I should get these today. It will probably be another week before the FiiO E10K arrives, so I should be able to get in plenty of testing before using them with it. If I hear much (or a lot) of improvement I will post here somewhere.

KoolaideFigured out it was the source. I apologize for the disrespectful comments. I just got the LG v20 and using this as the source totally changed the sound signature. I have seen the light! These truly are magical! Once again I apologize for the noob comments I made! 😊

KoolaideI already pair E10K for M220, I would say it is a great choice. Especially when you switch on "Bass boost" of E10K, I feel M220 work better.

InsanepagenHaving had used its K240 Studio brothers, I most DEFINITELY agree! 😉 A good Amp is mandatory to get the best out of these. I have also used the K701/2 and I have found both to be dreadful, totally lacking in Bass response. I preferred the K240 by far...

InsanepagenNot quite true. The Spec sheet is misleading. The Impedance value is only half of the story. Its sensitivity rating is rather poor at only 91 Db/mW/1Khz and this if anything is even more crucial than the Impedance figure. Remember, this is an evolution, not a complete redesign, of the rather old technology of the Original K240, harking back to the middle 1970s. No miracles possible! 😏
