So I ordered these in late July and there was a shipping delay. No big deal as I've been dealing with this same thing at work(shipping delays, back ordered parts, etc.). They arrived yesterday and I set them up. And they are pretty much what I expected, as I own a set of HDP6's in Walnut. These are in the Cherry finish. Not disappointed one bit in anything so far. Packaging was great, speakers are perfect. I've been running them since yesterday to burn them in, so far so good. I'm not expecting any drama with these, just good sound. And yes, for those who are a bit skeptical, they really do need a good 20 to 50 hours of use before they are at their best. So, some have made comments on a lack of bass. Folks, these have a 5 and half inch woofers and smallish, ported box. There is a sub out for a reason. In a small room, on a desktop, they are great. I've got mine in a roughly 11 x 12 room with a small 8 inch sub(Polk) and they are just a bigger better version of my HD3's. I'm probably a bit biased here(this is my fourth pair of Audioengine speakers), so, there's that. But, nice bass, detailed mids, smooth highs. These remind me so much of the "East Coast" sounds, KLH, Cambridge Soundworks, Advent, etc. Not fatiguing at all, just nice sound. And the Cherry is gorgeous, as much as the Walnut is. The bluetooth set up is a breeze and works and sound great. I tried all the inputs and they pretty much do exactly what the HD3's do, work well. The DAC is just as good as the other DAC's I've got, both in receivers, speakers and my seperate DAC's. The magnetic grill is a nice touch and the little remote is built like a tank. It's solid aluminum, has a simple and useful design. The touch pad is held on by magnets, much like the grills, and pops off via a small hole on the back. Use a paper clip, punch it out, and change you battery. Put it back together and you're done. I've had no problems with so far. Also, there is not need to switch between inputs. What ever you are using at the particular time will be what is played through. So if you have a cd, tape or turntable(sorry, no on board TT preamp) and shut down, you can cue up your wireless and it will switch right over. It's really quite simple and works well. So there you have it. Get some, you won't be disappointed. Sorry about the double review. I mixed this up with the HD6's I just received. Read my review on that product page.

What an upgrade this was. I got the black model. I thought they were going to be made of wood, but feels like metal, very clean either way. No fingerprints can be seen. Much bigger than expected, guess I just couldn't visualize the size. I am just used to smaller desktop speakers. I really enjoy listening to all my music on them. I power them with the Audioengine N22 Amplifier and Drop O2 + SDAC. I have them at ear level with a previous Drop of the Sonic Fiber SF-SMCS Desk Clamps. My brain can not tell that they are two seperate speakers the sound seems to be wherever it is placed in the song - an audiophilic experience.

Decent for the price
Mids are amazing, especially vocals. Highs and lows are lacking though.

Very Nice Speakers!
I currently have them running in my living room 5.1 stereo system, where they are doing a very nice job filling out the mid range and bass as front speakers. They would be much better served with a dedicated amplifier, and I hope to do them better justice in the future.

I mean an amplifier dedicated to running these speakers, as opposed to being part of a 5.1 amplifier that treats them as two of 5 bookshelf speakers.

aschaeferlol...what? All amplifiers are dedicated to running speakers. Why do you assume they aren’t based on channel output? An 11 channel amplifier can still dedicates as much to these speakers in stereo (or surround) as much as any two channel amplifier...most of the time even more. I have a Sony 7.2 receiver in the spare room that ‘supposedly’ puts our 100watt per channel. It doesn’t matter what the speakers are or how many are plugged in to it.

Beautiful good sounding speakers!
I bought these hoping they would be a upgrade in sound to my KEF Q100's and they are not. The fit and finish and beautiful and you can tell the drivers are nicely made but they are lacking in the sound department. The bass is lacking and the treble doesn't have enough sparkle for me. The mids are really good though. I tried to eq the bass and treble in and they did sound better but it seem to change the imaging and detail. These speakers are also picky about placement. You will want to keep them away from walls and corners and they seem to sound better in larger rooms. I tried them as near field monitors and they didn't sound very good in that application. If you like metal, rap or r&b or any music with heavy bass I would stay away from these. The Emotiva Airmotiv B1+ is a great bookshelf speaker but it doesn't have the beauty of these-lol.

I used a Emotiva Bass X A 100 and a older High End Yamaha amp. I'm sure with higher end amplification that they would sound better.

I would have given a 3.5 stars if I could have but my brother loved them and they have a high build quality, Beautiful veneer and are a good buy at the $250 that I purchased them for. Just not my cup of tea.

Excellent for the price
For the price the quality is excellent, mine are paired with a denon pma-600ne integrated amplifier and the level of fidelity and volume achieved by the pairing is fantastic.

Didn't get these
This is the 6th item that I ordered from Drop that I didn't receive in the mail. This is an unreliable company that uses the worst shipping methods available. It takes months for items to ship around the United States and most of the time they get lost in transit (happened 1 time) or sent back to the delivery warehouse (this happened 6 times). These fools make the same mistakes over and over again. They obviously don't care if you get the things you pay for. Usually they will tell you that they are not sure why the item was returned but they don't have any extras to send me because they over sell their products. Buy at your own risk.

Too bad you decided to make it in a review section where no ones gonna read your spat but just go by average ratings.....even when it’s got absolutely ZERO to do with the product you’ve helped lower the reputation of.
