Product Description
Christmas is fast approaching, so why not kick off the season and hang your holiday hopes on a Massdrop Blue Box? For this drop, we’ve assembled a collection of tried-and-tested EDC favorites from some of the most recognizable brands in the industry—from CRKT to JETBeam, Boker to Spyderco, and more Read More
Like always, I wound up with the 60% options only. Gonna hang the stocking in my locker, good way to stash everything neatly. Glad I got the Kershaw knife, that CRKT is hideaous and I’m not a fan of cleaver folders. Tiny light will be handy to just leave on the lapel of my carrier for Writing tickets at night. And nothing wrong with a fisher space pen, though something with a pocket clip would have been more useful. (Me being optimistic)
Only the 1% items look appealing, especially at this price, so I'm going to pass on it. Out of interest, how does one tell how many members have joined a drop when all it shows are the total sold including previous years? This is useful information since it influences what bonus items might be available.
Also, since the items have changed it would seem to make sense to make it a new listing with links to previous similar drops. Otherwise, the numbers joined and comments could be confusing to the unaware.
inventbotI think that's their intention and it's a little scummy. You see 1700-1800 sold and you think "wow, must be a great deal, I should join before I miss out."
The only way I'd join this year's blue box is if I could hand pick each item and I'd still probably end up with junk.
This looks like a great idea to move stuff that won't sell any other way. I could buy a lottery ticket. Of course, my chances there are even worse. Buying two would just about cover the PM2. I wonder if these stockings could be used as oven mitts? In answer to Dirty Harry's question, "No, I am not."
This year’s stocking seems very pricey for the items included in the base. $15 knife and pen, $10 flashlight and essentially wothless stocking. I would likely be disappointed unless I ended up in the top 10%, which has never happened on any prior blue box purchases for me. Last year I received the second tier but actually wanted the low end one( or the higher tier).
Has anyone found a purpose for the stocking? I have three of them lying around now.
ponagathosI use the stocking as a funny christmas stocking of course.
I agree, The base level is weak this year. The 20% level is somehow worse, I don't like that crkt knife or the fischer pens at all. I was really looking forward to it, but this is a skip for me this year.
Not sure what I'm supposed to do with this battery charger. It'll probably end up at Goodwill.
The knife is fugly. The bone/hammered finish looks like something you'd expect to have seen Tom O'Dell hocking on Knife Collectors Showcase 15y ago--"...you're gonna get...the Wakizashi... AND the Tanto... WITH the upgraded black pakkawood handles... AND the Kershaw Starter... ALL WITH leather sheaths..."
The Very Tiny light would be great if it weren't for having to twist it back and forth like some sort of duck call to change modes. I find this really annoying.
I'm really glad I got the black stocking, as I'd have probably burned a camo one.
It just showed up, UPS website said tomorrow but it showed up today. So I got the 60% tier and I got the battery charger. I'm not thrilled but I'm not unhappy either. I got the navy blue stocking. The knife is kinda ugly and heavy but it opens nicely. The JETbeam is awfully small but I do like that it has three brightness settings. The pen is silly small and I can see it getting lost very quickly. The battery charger will be the most useful item. I have several chargers but it will be handy to charge batts for all my dry herb vapes and my wicked laser collection. Over all I'm pleased!~
