Frustrated by the number of umbrellas that end up in landfills, the folks behind New Zealand–based Blunt set out on a mission: to make an umbrella that actually works—one that won’t break in a storm, when you need it most. The result? Read More
This umbrella has lasted more than a year and remains good as new. I live
in nyc, and anyone who has walked around the corner of a Manhattan skyscraper in a winter or spring storm knows what that means: dozens of umbrellas strewn like tumbleweed across the dreary streets; huddled masses of miserable people plastered in rain and clinging desperately to tattered remnants of overpriced umbrellas purchased that very morning to no avail; clueless tourists blinking, always on the wrong side of the sidewalk (please walk on the RIGHT!), clutching the broken masts of sweeping, eye-gouging expanses of golf umbrellas that have no place in this city to begin with, now split in half; and I trotting effortlessly holding with one hand this genius umbrella, which rotates and bends, adjusting itself to the galeforce winds. A masterpiece of engineering, second only to the Brookline Bridge.
A good size collapsible umbrella. Love the blunt corners that won't take out anyone's eyes and love the red mine came in. I've had a non-collapsible one for several years and it handles the wind really well.
Same comment as others here: sturdy construction, decent appearance, but tiny. Which would be fine if it was also ultra-compact, but it actually is pretty chunky. Still a good purchase, but you really have to value construction over everything else.
The XS is smaller than you think! But that is fine, I wanted a small umbrella I could easily stash in my Chrome Industry bag. The star-like shape is a bit weird and looks like it would not fully cover like a traditional umbrella, but I found that in reality it is does not make a real difference.
Truly resists gusts and very strong winds! It's really a well constructed umbrella; mine flipped once inside out with a very, very strong wind, but without any damage to the structure.
I bought the camo color, it's not really discreet, but it's perfect as none of my colleagues would 'accidentally' leave with it thinking it's theirs. Also when people are looking for me in a crowd for whatever reason, it's very easy to spot me: "yes I see you, I'm across the street from you, with the military umbrella!" 😂
Recommended!
Solid umbrella, but very small when open and very large when compacted compared to other umbrellas.
Ok for a small car to use in an emergency, or high wind.
As all have mentioned, ridiculously small canopy but well built. My friend teased me with one he bought from Taiwan while on a tour that folds down smaller, has a bigger canopy, literally survived a typhoon and for less than US$20.
As others have pointed out, it doesn't pack down very well for its coverage (heavy and bulky). It does look great, but I probably wouldn't pay this much for one again.
Small when open, but does not reduce to a small size when closed. Build quality is decent and it looks great - but it's just as prone to blowing out in high winds as any other umbrella (despite the manufacturer's claims). Worth the $40 for fashion but that's it.
Big when folded, small when open: Like the rest of Blunt umbrellas the design(looks) and build quality are extremely nice. Yet this one is not fit for rain - I am not tall, but it is still ineffective for me as lower body getting wet(from rain). I would not mind if it was even larger folder, but gave enough cover from rain. As for now, I would consider one of their bigger models...
