I keep mine in my car, use it for my Storm Spotting activities so that I can give precise location details for the severe storms I am following to the agencies who then warn the public. It's got an easy-to-read face that's handy when I am on the road or when things get pretty dark.
I think my best compass is still my Silva, but this is my go-to for storm chasing/spotting duties. Since I don't use it for Orienteering "scavenger hunts, I cant say much about how well it fares in more difficult situations.

Good solid compass with all necessary features for navigating in the wild. Lighter than my military compass, but just as functional. Maybe not as bomb proof as the military compass, but it also doesn't get the abuse of military ops. Works flawlessly for map and field use, accurate and all around feel of quality.

Overall a good and useful product for those of us who grew up before Garmin. First the pro's.. It does point north (yes I have purchased compasses that didn't). The scales and markings are clear and legible.... It combines both map and navigation features in one package... It has both an angle measuring device, and with some mental gymnastics a way of determining the height of objects. Second the con's... It's a bit large for pocket size. If you wear military style clothing the pockets should be big enough though.... Compared to other compasses it's kind of heavy, although it does combine two functions... Lastly, the little bubble thingey. Totally useless and a waste of time and effort.

It is a bunch of crap. Useless. Inaccurate scale, heading marks...etc. It is like some cheap copy.

Utter disgrace of a compass , you cant take an accurate bearing , the tick marks are not eveningly space. You are better off getting a 5$ lesnatic compass from Walmart. The depamening is very poor for a compass at this price , and the additional navigation pages on the back cover were blank. I spent several years as a search and rescue officer, you have to depend on you equipment in the wilderness, I would leave this product at home, go with a different company..the QC is very poor on this product.

Massdrop was flawless as usual, but I'm disappointed with the product., Truearc 20. I read plenty of warnings about the poor quality control at Brunton. Wanted to do my civic duty and order Made in USA vs my first preference of the foreign "S" brand (take your pick). Also, a big part of me like the ability to set the declination without a tool (one less thing to use). Should have gone with my gut and supported a better company rather than some misguided national pride.
I don't have the printing issue. I checked as soon as it arrived. My numbers and hashes are spot on. My main issue is that the rotating baring ring sticks or hangs at some random point. It made it nearly impossible to get an accurate bearing as you needed to twist harder to overcome the "hangup" and would sometimes twist too hard and overshoot and then have to rotate back, etc. After about a week of spinning the ring while watching TV, etc. it is much better and is actually usable now; but, you can still feel a slight hesitation at a point while rotating.
This might be a great feature if it "hung" at due north or something like that; but, it hangs on some strange bearing like 7.5* (don't have the compass with me right now).
This isn't a deal breaker; but, it takes a few grunts to get the declination set just right. You need both hands to push and turn the bezel. You need to push fairly hard, so it's hard to get a precise setting on the first try. Maybe I just have wimpy fingers. I still think I would prefer this over the risk of losing the tool.
I was going to send it back to Massdrop; but, life got busy and I didn't get a chance and probably that window has closed.

TrueArc20 has a global compass and in Northern Hemisphere there is too much needle dip (at least on mine). When compass is leveled based on the bubble level, compass needles does not freely turn due to the friction caused by the dip. Brunton customer service (Chad) promised "a new" replacement, however the new repair guy (Tyler Loomis) send back my own compass dirty, scratched up, even more defective than before claiming it passed their repair inspection. Customer support people like Tyler what destroys a brand and a product reputation. I would never buy anything from Brunton with such poor quality and even worst customer service.

Bezel is poorly constructed and bearings look like a toddler has scribed them. Tool less declination is no good either

Very poor quality for a Brunton. Needle dip is poor and drags. I would never participate in another pone these drops.
