Can someone explain which cable specifically allows it to extract digital out from iPhone? I don't see a lightning cable in the contents. I presume without a digital out the dac is useless

CrossfadeTo get a digital out, you need to pick up an Apple Lightning to USB camera cable. That's the only way I know of to get a digital audio out on an iPhone- I use it without a problem on my Fiio E17- was plug and play.

CrossfadeYou can buy FiiO L19 lighting to micro cable. I think this is the cheapest solution on market.

DarkSid3_PLNone of these worked. I now have a Cayin that doesn't work as a DAC with my iPhone. It's a brick to me.
Apple just hasn't allowed them to unscramble the digital signal out of the lightning port. Any device that is allowed to do this is usually pricey because apple charges a bomb to license the keys to inactive their digital out from lightning.
