@CustomArt I have the 8.2, FIBAE 3 and the EI.xx with the FIBAE black on order. This looks like a solid offering at a great price. Do these CIEMs bring anything to the table I don’t have in a profound way?
Wraven
Hi, MEs are kind of like Harmony 8.2 meeting Ei.xx - FIBAE MEs follow similar sound profile to Ei.xx they are just highly revised in all possible ways - with more mids and better highs, staging and imaging. If you enjoy Ei.xx's signature but wished for some improvements MEs deliver just that
Hello, can this also be ordered with MMCX connectors ? Thanks
t1969p
Yes!
Hi Guys, Just a small update, we are processing currently all order and we should be shipping them soon. Thank you for your patience. Piotr
How come I don't see White Transparent as a selection option for shell or Face-plate but it is on the CustomArt website?
Clemulus
Just pick any option and ask Custom Art later via e-mail to modify your order.
homzik
excellent....thanks
What's the isolation like on these? I read somewhere that it has a vented/ported bass driver, will that affect the isolation?

Great, good to hear. Thanks for the reply
Darksteel
Mine are incredibly good. I use them on a plane and I can't really hear much, even with no music playing
Hello, any input on how these compare against the Shure SE846? I currently have the Shures and am not liking them as much as I thought I would. More than likely it's because I have only driven them with my phone (Note 9). I like that these have far reaching bass as my main genre would be electronic. Am I correct in thinking most smartphones would drive these just fine? Thanks for any input!

Nice you will be surprised how beautiful sound they can deliver in that price range
My source is the Hiby R6 with Tidal Hifi..
Would I need an external amplifier to drive these monitors?

Oneplus 5T

They would work just fine without external amp. IEMs have relatively low impedance and high sensitivity, they don't require a lot of power to reach high volume levels
Any suggestions on how to keep cost down shipping impressions to Poland? I went to local UPS store and they were quoting me $150-200 to ship small box via UPS or DHL. This seems excessive and adds a lot to the cost.
RTP1
Try USPS. Cca. $30-40. Check on website
RTP1
USPS First Class (small box/envelope should be between $15-25) or find reseller for UPS/FedEx/DHL but still don't expect lower cost than $30-50 from reseller.
Just when i thought I was out..
Silicon shell available for this drop?
Sai21
It's available in acrylic only.
Is this six-driver FIBAE a new model from CustomArt? I couldn't find it from the official website. Thanks.
marcus.yu
As the very name suggests, it's Massdrop exclusive, so it's available via Massdrop only. FIBAE ME is quite a new model and it has replaced the Ei.xx IEMs.
How long will it take for the ciems to be delivered (to the US)?

This is Custom Art's model directly below their flagship, TOTL Harmony 8.2 model. It is the highest end model with FIBAE technology in their lineup currently (and Massdrop Exclusive), although knowing Piotr, the flagship is probably going to be refreshed with FIBAE as well at some point
As tz0531 said this one is currently the most advanced FIBAE model. Because the tuning of this IEM is quite "outside" of our standard house sound it's exclusive to Massdrop. It's also a continuation of Ei.xx - our previous massdrop exclusive IEM released in 2015
A bit of an unusual question here... While all source I listen to are well encoded, I do not listen to lossless. Additionally these would mostly be for traveling (flight, trains)/walking around, not for desktop listening. I do have an AudioQuest Dragonfly Red I use before plugging any IEMs into my phone, or nice DAC/amp to use at home or in the office if I ever get to that.
I have uneven ears and finding the right tips on IEMs is a pain in the ass. Additionally my ears aren't too keen on IEMs in general vs. other phones with drivers further away from the ears. I was wondering whether a CIEM with a) better fit b) better resolution c) better seal would be a solution for me in this case.
I had been curious about the FIBAE2, and the FIBAE ME seems well-priced but I worry it would be 'too' resolving for MP3s/Spotify Extreme (note that with Schiit Jotunheim + Sennheiser HD650s, I cannot tell the difference between Spotify high quality and the same song in FLAC).
I listen mostly to extreme Metal genres, so note separation, in particular in the bass and mids, is critical. Treble cannot be fatiguing. Does it seem like CIEMs in general, and the FIBAE ME more specifically would be a good solution for me? Asking to those with similar experiences :)
Thanks!

Hi,
Thanks for your questions.
Let's start with shape - generally speaking large number of our customers come to us with that exact problem - their ears are different - some times drastically different not only in canal but also in concha altogether. Custom molding solve this issue. Falling out earphones are no longer a problem, the IEM locks itself in place and should stay there until you remove them :)
Quality of files - you should definitely hear difference in files, then again if you are using spotify on highest quality you should be fine. For example I use spotify a lot too and while I do hear some difference between flac files of the same track the difference is negligible and if you are in busy environment (metro, bus) I don't pay attention to that.
I listen to metalcore, hardcore, prog on daily basis. The FIBAE MEs have some heavy bass which isn't the fastest in the world but in my opinion it does well in metal. It's been tested with some heavy tracks during tuning process to make sure it copes with speedy drums and low tuned strings. If you would accept say IE80 IEM for metal, then FIBAE ME will do just as well if not better, as typically BAs have faster transient response than dynamic drivers.
CustomArt
Thanks all :) Indeed my thought pattern follows most of what both of you said, it's nice to have good company! I've had no luck finding any place around here open in weekends that'll do ear impressions; I'll keep on looking and join the drop if I do find one!
A couple of questions for Piotr or anyone who has heard these. First off, how do they compare to the Harmony 8.2? And the Ei.xx - is it worth the upgrade to go from them to these? Do the customs and universal versions sound the same or are there differences? Thanks so much.
carlsan
Hi,
1. definitely much more bass than Harmony 8.2 which means more recessed mids in comparison to H8.2. I would say fairly similar highs quantity. Slightly narrower soundstage but still quite good on average - 8.2 has very wide stage after all. It's very different sound signatures making it hard to compare. MEs are like proper sounding dynamic-driver based IEMs, fun with big bass. Harmony is balanced out detailed and resolving. 2. In my personal opinion yes! They improve a lot in terms of sound quality over previous model, while retaining similar character. 3. Generally speaking universals are tuned to sound as close as possible to customs. However tips rolling on universal will change the sound so Bi-flange will sound different than single flange and if you put comply or spinfits they will sound completely different
I'm looking to get my first custom IEM. Right now I have the 64 audio U8's that I love. Much to my chagrin they aren't making the 8's in custom right now. Instead they have the new N8 that doesn't seem to be as bass heavy. I was wondering how these Custom Arts's stack up in comparison . Anyone listened to both?
MassMel
I listened to U8 long time ago so I cannot really compare. I listened to N8 in March this year and I found it too bass heavy for my personal taste - so there's that - would seem FIBAE MEs have less bass.
I'm from Spain, is there a price in euro? I suppose that Poland being part of the EU there are no customs, but do I have to add VAT?

As I'm not a bass heavy user, I think I would prefer more the FIBAE 3 I think. I mostly listen to classical and movies soundtracks
Oletros
Yeah, if you're not a basshead then I would encourage you to consider our regular line up.
Just got my fibae me in the mail. They are stunning and exactly what I wanted for my first ciem. Cheers to Piotr and custom art.

I'm in the US but I didn't need to pay for customs delivery was quick too!
I didn't have any customs fees either. US, West coast.
Mold reception to deliver for me took a few days past a month. So very good build time.
Hi, First of all, thank you all for participating in the drop! I've never stopped being amazed by how well our products are received by Massdrop community!

kinda last-min for this current drop but how does this compare to the Westone 4R? I know its kinda of an old IEM but that's the one i have been using for the past few years on/off. In terms of music, I prefer to listen to punk/alternate rock/progressive trance
Matoriv
FIBAE ME has much more bass, much thicker midrange, considerably more details and much bigger soundstage.
@CustomArt Need info/advice; my context: If other headphone gear enthusiasts knew my sound signature preferences, they would probably consider me a massive basshead. I just got a Unique Melody Merlin V1 secondhand reshelled earlier this year, looking at these FIBAE ME as an upgrade. Dead stock, the Merlins were VERY spiky in the treble, at the edge of my treble tolerance even when driven by a <1 ohm source, completely unlistenable out of cell phone jack with higher output impedance than 1ohm. I had to mod the Merlins by increasing the damper value on the twin TWFK units from 1000 to 2200 ohms, but even after that I still have to pEQ out a 5dB spike at 7.5kHz to smooth out sibilance. Even with the dynamic bass driver and the mods, the Merlin does not have the visceral bass impact of my much cheaper LZ A4, also a hybrid IEM. What I mean by this is that even when the Merlins have more measureable output, detail, and texture in the bass, they lack the guttural weight of the LZ A4 bass 1/2

Ended up caving in and joined the drop with only 15 minutes left to spare, because apparently I like to live dangerously... But seriously, your quick and helpful replies were what made the difference when agonizing over and finalizing my decision to buy, and I can't wait to start this journey of getting a custom IEM built. Oh, and as always, RIP wallet, you had a good run while it lasted ;)
tz0531
Thanks for participating! Appreciate it and I really hope you will like FIBAE ME!
Can we add the silicone earplug add-on for this drop?
TamPrs
You can order separately and we would combine shipping.
How do these compare to the Fibae 3?
Load 2 more comments
thanks for the response. fwiw, I think fibae 3 is a bit bass shy so this would be an upgrade... dont really wanna cough up another $900 though :(
nyu3
Personally I wouldn't say F3 are bass shy, while they are definitely less bass heavy than FIBAE ME, but they are not Ety ER4S-like bass-light either.
At this price you're better off getting the Kaiser 10 Universals for 80 bucks more.
Those make these sound muddy.

Look at their fibae 2 on custom arts website it matches your description
FIBAE 2, for sure would be good pick with this description, for half the price.
Anyone got the universal version of these? Are they comfortable?
Load 1 more comment
Thanks! I don't have much iem to make comparison of but is it a similar size to the vega? Also, why did you choose universal instead of custom?
Cubess
It has similar size indeed but the sleeker shape should make easier to fit, the Vega have a very FAT nozzle area.
Regarding the universal shape choice, 2 elements of answer: - I had demo-ed the universal shape of CustomArt H8.2 and found it a very good fit. - I can't bear the deep insertion of most customs unfortunately and I have waxy ears, so customs tend to push the wax deeper and cause me otitis. This is less of an issue with the shallower fit of the universals. - ease of resale is a distant third, since these have exactly the sound signature I was expecting. Piotr from CustomArt always describe how they tune their models with no bullsh*t marketing, so you can guess what you'll get when you choose between Fibae 2/3/ME and H8.2.
