I added three dekoni nuggets to the Mitchell & Johnson GL2 headband. I found the GL2 headband uncomfortable and the nuggets solved the problem. They have the same width as the GL2 headband, making a nice aesthetic solution.

Looks great! The thinly padded headband should benefit from more cushioning. Haven't decided if these are going on the Mitchell & Johnson GL2 or MJ2. Leaning towards the MJ2. They are even too big with the headband at the smallest setting.
My MDR-XB950 headband started crumbling and i don't know if i should take this or ZMF pilot pad... From simple looks, i think that ZMF fits the headband's length more than these nuggets
April 1st? Nope, still January.... that said I've used replacement hd600 bands and cut them for the same exact purpose as these. The 4.00 pair on amazon with free shipping is amazing and even has better durability than the original hd600 head pads, they don't lose their form either and aren't as obtrusively large as these. FYi ;-)
Uzuzu
cutting up the hd600 band isn't a bad idea actually

Does anyone know if the Sony WH1000XM2 will fit in the case after adding the nuggets?
levite805
YES it does.
tdkocen
That's good because I bought the suede cups and these nuggets will make the xm2 super comfortable for long flights. Can I bother you for a picture of it?
(Edited)
Any experience with taking the nuggets off? Concern is (1) residue, and (2) whether the adhesive is so strong that pulling the nuggets off will cause some of the material from the headband to come off with it, especially after long-term usage of the nuggets in the same spot. Thoughts, anyone...?
mensrea
Doesnt leave any residue from my experience. The adhesive is not that strong. It is just strong enough to stay on, since your pushing it with your head anyways. Its a well thought out choice in my opinon
TIL there is Vegan Leather. What a time to be alive. "This extremely soft, durable synthetic material offers a vegan alternative to true leather. "
CapitalistCat
Pleather has existed for ages lol. "Vegan" leather is just clever marketing.
One of the employees of our office always used a baby seatbelt cover on his Q701 and K612. The Q701 bumps, if you’ve tried them, are very firm and have about as much compression as the leather headband on the K612/K7XX. AKG also changed their K701 model from having a bump at the center to having bumps to either side of center, because the middle bump was causing a hotspot for many people. The Dekoni Nuggets, on the other hand, are about 3x as thick and MUCH softer and squishier, the Choice Leather fabric is also softer than the “hard boiled” leather headband and even is softer and less sticky than regular leather used on earpads. Plus, you can stick on the Nuggets how YOU like.

A typical DIY headband mod:

(The owner of the K612 says the padding flattened out and doesn’t feel cushy anymore, just fuzzy from the wool-like wrap) Versus the Nuggets:

Note: The owner of the K612 above is balding, so he applied the Nuggets with a wider center gap so the peak of his crown would have no pressure. Congrats to him on getting padding upgraded from baby products and into the big leagues! 🤣 You can get Aesthetically creative:

Or improve the comfort of two headphones with two pads each, since they come in a 4-pack:

Would this be a better option?
This looks tempting to somehow put under or replace the "flappy thingy" pleather pads on the Superlux hd 668b
(Edited)
do they leave a residue?
Nice pictures. It’s good to see I’m not the only one who can’t put things on evenly!
not sure if it will be able to be taped on the hd650s?
Makes the perfect gift for all the Pastafarians on your list! .

Yeeeees? ;)
Universal stick-on headband pads might be a newer idea, but the silhouette is somewhat familiar...

The Nuggets offer more cushion and comfort than all of the stock examples above.

@DekoniAudio - have you guys tried it with Campfire Cascade?

We have not, at least not yet, but the 3M tape is fairly universal.
Zachik
Unfortunately the Cascade has too much pressure. :( I still like my nuggets and am sure I will find another use for them.
Finally something for mine lcd-x!

Can you tell me the outer dimension of Dekoni's Audeze pads?
MassEff3ct
106mm
Am I the only one wants to squeeze and bite it ?....... Also, would be great if they offer in light brown, so they look like real nuggets XD

We’ve got the Denon in the foreground here!
What kind of foam is used in these?
Memoryerror
YM80, same as our earpads. Thanks for your interest!
Dekoni Nuggets: For those with HD600 envy.
I bought an extra set and attached them to my boxer shorts--really helps with those crapy seats on the subway.

So many uses... One of us at the office put some in his bike helmet to replace the foam that wore away, and he says it helps the air flow better over his head and keeps him cooler. We told him he was cool already, but whatever ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The wife of one of our staff can’t wear most headphones; she has a great mind, but a small head! Many headphones don’t adjust short enough for her, so she usually used earbuds and earclip headphones, but now she can finally wear an Audeze LCD2C without the pads sliding down off her ears. We’ve gained a new unofficial pad tester!

I see the Nobel Prize for Headband Pressure Relief in your future.
Probably not for someone who maxes out most headband adjustments I take it. Too bad, really great idea.
andrewebay1
True, considering that they protrude that much and that it'll likely require at least 2 of them for comfort purposes
Could someone from Dekoni or MD indicate the dimensions of one nugget please ? I want to know if they fit on my Mitchell & Johnson GL2.

Would adding these to my aluminium lcd-2 headband make sense?

YES! It was the first headphone I put them on!

This is the headphone we used to demo our prototype Nuggets at CanJam RMAF! Recommended 👍
Vegan leather nice!
Hddzg
It’s so soft, it almost feels like cloth!
Very strange to see MD use the 4XX as an example when having "Premium Aesthetic, Comfortable Feel Comfort is king for the HE4XX, " but the first paragraph of this is "Relief From Uncomfortable Headbands Uncomfortable headphones can be such a headache—literally." I probably would have used something you didn't sell as a demonstration lol.
densetsu
HAHAHA this reminds me of the story where the merchant sells both the spear which can pierce anything and the shield which can block anything in his stall XD
densetsu
While the HE 4XX isn’t the worst headband offender in the world, Planar Magnetic headphones are generally heavier, and a wearer will especially feel it at the tip of the crown if their head is a bit narrow. We contend that Massdrop could have chosen any headphone they had on hand, and the Nuggets can help customize the fit. A pad at the peak, plus some on the sides to share some of the pressure from said peak, will distribute the weight, create a bit more airflow, and make the fit more snug. Or, our hypothetical wearer could use all four with a gap at the peak of the crown, or two headphones with two nuggets on each. ”Snugglets” was another name idea for the pads, but we decided to go with Nuggets 😉
theyre cute lol ... would be hard to resist not biting one of them. i like ideas like this though, theres a lot of modders here and its nice to see new accessories popping up

A great valentines gift box idea for an audiophile in your life 😉
SO GLAD TO SEE THEY ARE VEGAN.

The Choice Leather is one of our new favorite materials! Smooth and sealed like leather, but softer than lambskin or pleather. Almost feels like cloth to the touch, very luxurious and not itchy at all. Win-Win!
Except they didn't tell you 😂
Hmmm, me thinks I’m going to see a lot of future ebay 4xx’s with holes in the headbands cause someone couldn’t get them just in the right spot. I’m cringing just looking at that tape. Do I only get one shot to get them right?!?
Moonsand1
We recommend a “dry test” at first, where you experiment with wearing the headphones and Nuggets at different positions before you remove the paper covering the 3M adhesive. The adhesive will hold the Nuggets securely, and with a firm pull they will come off fairly cleanly (a bit of GooGone can help, but usually all the adhesive comes off together on the Nugget side), but the adhesive probably would not be reusable.

I’ll wait for feedback from Campfire Cascade users..

I'm going to give these a shot for the Cascade. If I forget to reply, pester me after these ship and I'll tell you if they worked. :)
loadexfa
The pressure on the Cascade is too strong for the nuggets. They help but I found taping the padding from the Senn 6-- to be more effective. Too bad, these look nicer and have more flexibility. I'm strongly considering selling the Cascade, this is a major flaw, especially at that price point.
