Having bought the EDC3 recently, I wonder whether to buy this, or wait for ER4XR to drop instead. Any suggestions? Also, is this drop coming with the 2 year warranty from Etymotic?

baranwarI read the ER3s are the same as the ER4s with the following exceptions:
- ER3 has plastic housing - ER3 are made in China and not the US - ER3 comes with less accessories / no hard case
Outside of that the sound is supposedly Identical. It comes down to if those differences are worth an extra $230 (I recently bought a pair on ER4XR on Amazon, $380 w/ tax. To me they were, no upgrade envy to deal with. Honestly I wish I would have chosen these first before buying my Andromeda's. The Andro's only edge out on width of the sound stage, the ER4XR has incredible detailing.

baranwarAfter checking the warranty info on both massdrop and ety websites, I guess this might not be covered by the 2-year warranty... (apologize if I am wrong.)

PantomimeIt also appears the cables are different between the two, with the ER4 having twisted cables?

owtlaw333And ER4 has a thicker cable (and 1 ftlonger) for the part that is not twisted. As a owner of both, I would say ER4 has more “clarity” than ER3 if you play music from your phone.

baranwarYep, I’d recommend either getting it from amazon (with a different authorized seller to avoid taxes and retain warranty - sorry IRS) or getting an ER4 the same way......

PantomimeER4s are not completely made in the US. They are assembled in the US. Etymotic is a reputable company. There's no reason to worry about the quality regardless of the manufacture location.

JanpuKantokui don't suppose anything in "clarity" changes if you put the ER4 cable on the ER3? Thanks for contributing your finding. =)
