I put a lot of weight on my poles when going up or down hills. I had shied away from carbon poles because of their breakage. I am glad that these poles are made of the newer stronger carbon. I have used them quite a bit since I have bought them. They are super strong and can take my abuse of the poles with flying colors. The locks have never come loose. I enjoy the lighter weight of these poles.

I've used Komperdell carbon fiber poles for years. This set, the C3 Carbon Pto Trekking Poles have clamp type locks which hold the adjustments of the pole in place rather than twisting the pole to achieve the lock. The clamps operate more quickly and stay put once locked into place, which, to me, is a significant improvement.

Decent poles very light weight but clamps aren’t great. Plus you can find them at Sierra trading post for 33$ a set or get Costco brand for 35ish dollars.

Got these right before a trip to Alaska. Fantastic pair of walkers. Grip is comfortable - and the ability to micro-adjust the height and the solid locking tension levers is a real plus. Solid poles - especially considering I'm 230lbs and knees are bad - these are a MUST HAVE for any substantial hike. Found them to be a good bang for the buck compared to the bargin aluminum poles - and considering I put ALOT of weight on them going downhill - I'd rather pay for a solid pair of sticks. Really pleased so far.

there are not vey light and the locking mechanism does no t work when they are collapsed-- so the small section slides out. not nearly as light as my Black diamond Poles

SailfitInteresting mine lock rock-solid, did you adjust them properly? Since the bottom section tapers you must fully collapse it to engage the basket assembly. The molding for the basket piece has the girth to allow it to lock closed. Could be your bottom section lock needs a little more grip/lock adjustment. My pair is 14.5oz, what does your BD pair weigh and which model?

Decent poles, but maximum length is 125 cm. I've tried quite a few brands and types of trekking poles, and I seem to always return to the Black Diamond Alpine Carbon Corks.

Amazing quality
I have used this for 200 plus days of back country excursions now. Some with my pack weighing well over 150 pounds. This set has been a lifesaver and held up to everything I’ve thrown at them! I’d love to order another set!

Loved them, til I lost them.
Really liked these poles. Of the three different kinds I've now owned, these have been my favorites. They were great until I forgot them in the back of a pickup will getting a hitch on the AT last year... My only complaint was that over time I had to occasionally tighten the screws on the locks, because they didn't always hold if I didn't pay attention to them and keep them tightened. But I chock that up to general use and not a flaw in the product.
