I love MAC knives. I really do. But these are all... well.. meh
The bread slicer, the best of a bad bunch, costs way too much to justify the purchase. You can do so much better for roughly the same price.
MAC Superior 10.5" is $90 and cuts the same, especially if you're willing to learn how to sharpen. Another viable option is the Tojiro ITK 270mm , costs $60 and offers incredible value for money. And if you are willing to shed 125-150 bucks for a bread slicer, then you should most definitely get the Misono Molybdenum over the MAC Pro.

andylampConsidering that I'm ordering this from Canada, I would say yes.
However, that would depend on which country you're in and if they group buy is shipping to where you live. Just look under the price of the drop (right side) and if the shipping is added and if the country in which you reside is shown (above the MSRP & % off).

Buying knifes from MD is sort of a lottery, I've jumped on a previous drop for a Mac knife and it arrived without a tip. Sorry for the bad picture, took it with my cell but you can clearly see jagged edge where there supposed to be a sharp tip.

The packaging was so bad that the knife got loose in transit and apparently the tip got broken off, and knife was scratched near that spot. Me thinks someone at MD's warehouse did a very sloppy job packing up knives.

AnzialYou should email support@massdrop.com, we can take care of this. Please provide photos of the packaging and how the knife came and we can show this to our warehouse staff.

andyI have send the email. I didn't keep the packaging so I can't show that one but I can make better pictures of the damage to the knife.

It is quite disappointing considering this the most expensive kitchen knife I've ever owned.

I'm a little confused by this drop. Do you have to get the chef's knife if you only want one of the other knives, or can you select which knife you want? The checkout only lets me select the chef's knife plus 0-4 other knives.

Bob_McBobYou can select any of the 4 knives. We are letting you mix and match.

i have the MTH-80. it's amazing. i also have a set of wusthof professional knives. they're good, but not great. the mac is worlds better than the wusthof professional series chef's knife, if you want a point of reference with something more common/well known.
i think thomas keller uses or at least endorses mac knives. he ain't too shabby in the kitchen...

MAC knives are pretty awesome. I've used the santoku and own the paring knife. They cut very well look great. Looks like pricing is based on the paring knife, then add the difference in the price in the specs as you move up the line. They're worth the dough. But if you don't need a fancy knife get some Victorinox Firbrox and don't worry about it.

It's too early to tell. I'd create a poll of the different Fibrox knives and we then we can figure which types to offer. Share it on this drop and let's see what happens.
Cheers,
Andy
