Can this drop be made available again at a REASONABLE TIME WITH REGARD TO THE SHIP DATE? Or can you not charge my card until its shipping? I want to join this drop, but I simply cannot afford to waste $200 now without getting anything in return for half a year!
Why so many people are okay with letting massdrop basically earn half a year's interest on their own money is beyond me. They could at least be upfront about what they're doing, rather than hiding the ship date down at the very bottom of the post where many people won't see it until it's too late. I barely noticed in time, and I can't help but feel like massdrop is being shady as hell here.

SlowCousinPeteHow much interest are you loosing on 200$ at your local Bank for 5 months? Lets say 3% per annum (and i'm quite generous...). You total cost is Headphone 200$ + shipping fee 15$ + interest lost during 5 months on 215$ (215$* 3%* 5/12) = 2.69$. So your total cost is 217.69$ instead of 215$. I get your point...
SlowCousinPeteYou know they make these after we order, right? What's the difference whether we pay now or later? You're still paying...and you're still getting it at that date. I don't understand what you're pissed about. That's the trade-off. You could just pay like $100 more and get the HD650s today instead. Or save $100 and wait til December.
You could just do what I did and buy another set of headphones to use now and sell later. I'm trying out some Beyerdynamics DT770 Pro.
You'd think people would be used to Massdrop's long ship time by now.
SlowCousinPeteYou mean you didn't read through everything about it because you're on the Massdrop website and the most important bit of information here ever is ship date?
If you have a look through the discussions they explain why there's such a long lead time on these units.
You could always go and buy from a shop somewhere for a bit more.
SlowCousinPeteBasic economic theory..... advanced orders provide manufacturer with zero risk manufacturing opportunity... i.e it allows them to match their supply to a given demand exactly... hence no risk of over manufacturing that has to be priced into the selling price... no marketing costs to build interest for the product.... no discounts to retail to price into the selling price... It also gives them the opportunity to pressure their suppliers into better pricing for bulk orders.... So they can charge a much better price and still make a decent profit.... while you as the consumer..... well you get the same product at 40% of the price... so thats a hell of a lot of interest that you have to earn to make the economics work against this deal... or inflation would have to run up to about 120% to warrant paying $500 for the product now... no brainer as far as I am concerned.... but then I am the kind of person that gets gratification from a five day test cricket match which ends in a draw at the end of it.... while you probably need a 2 hour baseball match to keep your attention span occupied.... Makes me think of the old story about the old bull and the young bull watching the cows in the meadow on the other side of the fence... The young bull says to the old bull lets run down and jump over the fence and each service one of the cows... The old bull says... no... lets take a leisurely walk along the fence to the gate way down there... we go through the gate and we stroll back to the cows.... and then we service the whole herd of them......!!!
SlowCousinPeteThey get a free credit over 2.000.000 usd , thats the reason. If you would calculate the costs of such a short credit for a company they actualy save a lot of money since sennheiser is going to charge them around december?
SlowCousinPeteAnyone hungry?
He makes me think of eating donuts and cake in bulk while slamming down a gallon of tea to keep breathing. Yep. I'm hungry now.
BrainFlushWhile we are there (bottom of page) ... anyone else saw the connector size? I am not a english major but 1/8 in (I'm assuming they mean one-eighth of an inch) but it does not equals to 0.3cm as stated.
SlowCousinPeteWelcome to the world of group buys. It's a pretty basic concept why things work this way, and is the business model Massdrop is based on.
SlowCousinPeteWhether or not you got them in 2 weeks or in December, you still spent $200 on headphones now. The only difference is that you can't listen to them now, which isn't something I understand when it comes to 'affording' it.
