theshaman01You'll hear it, but the power output is only 24mW into 300 Ohm loads, which isn't a whole lot better than what most laptop headphone ports will put out. It's certainly an upgrade from no amp, but not a big one.
theshaman01I mean, it's not a bad option, just a bit shy on power. Hard to provide recommendations without some idea what your budget is, but the Schiit Fulla 2 is $99 and puts out 40mW to 300 Ohm loads, so it's a fair bit better. If you're really strapped for cash, stick to the one you linked and just keep in mind that more powerful alternatives are available for when you can spare a bit more money.
D32320I have the original Fulla, not the Fulla 2 (I've since upgraded to a homemade DAC/Amp). As an entry level option, the Fulla is nice and the Fulla 2 is better.
theshaman01So, in the simplest terms, a DAC (Digital to Analog Converter) takes the digital audio from your source (computer or phone or whatever) and turns it into an analog audio stream (which is what your headphones/speakers need to be able to output it). The issue is, most phones and computers use very cheap (read 'bad') DAC chips that don't do this well and introduce distortion into the signal and/or strip off some of the detail (converting 24bit samples to 16bits internally). Once the signal is converted to analog, it needs to be amplified so the signal has enough power to move the voice coil in the driver. So, for the best quality, you need an accurate DAC and an amp that can drive your headphones/speaker (amps can introduce distortion too, so a _good_ amp is needed for best quality, not just one that can output enough power).
theshaman01Don't know how easy it will be to get Schiit in Europe but I got an FX Audio DAC6 for USD60.00, from Aliexpress. Puts out 180mW at 300 ohm and is said to comfortably power the HD650 by many people. Cannot confirm as my HD6xx have not arrived yet but it does power my other phones comfortable at 9 o'clock and way too loud at 10 o'clock.
chucktdriscolldoes is power it fully tho normaly only listen to 20 procent volume onn headphones and if it dosnt power it fully is their anyone for like 50$ dollar more that you can reccomend
theshaman01Comes with a 12Vdc 1 amp wall wart. I asked for a UK version and they shipped the correct plug. Some modders have suggested that a more powerful 3-6amp linear power supply makes it sound better. I received it within 4 days of placing the order so the buyer I used seems really good and has sold hundreds of these things.
theshaman01Oh yes, they sound OK straight out of a phone, but you will be running near max volume. Just know that they will get better as you have more funds available to get an amp and DAC.
