pws1587Schiit is a bit dry/bright, vali 2 is a bit better but I’d rather get the Monoprice/Cavalli Liquid Spark, which has a richer more musical sound.
pws1587if your budget will allow it, these will sing with a Darkvoice amp. I have them with my magni 3 and they sound good, but like all sennheiser gear, these shine with OTL amps.
jm090To be fair, and I’m sure most here will agree, the HD 58X Jubilee is fairly easy to drive and will sound dynamic with most amps you could choose. Getting an amp in this case is less about finding “enough power” and more about “if you want to hear a better amp.” I also think the HD 58X has a “natively“ good and balanced sound, so you don’t need a pairing to “fix” it (for example, a Beyerdynamic DT 880 with a Violectric amp to tame the highs and warm the sound).
So really, it’s more about what amp appeals to you in looks, features, and price. Whether you’re a gamer and you go for a Sennheiser GSX 1000, Creative G6 or X7 (Katana has Headphone surround as well), or Asus product; or you want something for movies and speakers as well as headphones with something like a PS Audio Sprout integrated, Topping integrated, Yamaha receiver, or Denon receiver; or you just want something purely for music like a Cavalli, NuForce, Darkvoice, Meier Audio, Garage1217, Felix Audio, and many more.
DavestefThis is true. I'm not sure if that is due to the headphones design or if the amp is tuned for 300-600ohm headphones though. I think it is the or primary trade-off with these and the 600/650. 58x can an reasonably play through anything and sound good, 600/650 scales better with better gear.
