Topping DX3 pro is available in aliexpress for 186$ (168$ with coupons), i think i regret buying this..
Warning to all - this is a nice DAC but I was unable to get it to work with Linux or Moode. Kept making static type pops and crackles. Works great with Windows. I bought mine from China, and had to resell on ebay at a loss.

Thanks for the response. I'm going to use the DAC in a similar setup and I'll come back to it when my order arrives.
Hi ! I own this baby since a few months now (Sanskrit pro B DAC). Got it elsewhere in China (AE :)) and my version is specific as it has no BT inside (useless for me). I can confirm this DAC does NOT use Xmos 32bit on my Windows 7 setup, which is great as I don't like Xmos converting process giving a rather un-natural sound IMO. the AKM 4490 and his usb chip do provide TRUE and DIRECT 32 bit DSD files decoding without the use of a converting interface as Xmos dac's usually do. I can confirm this DAC is excellent for the price : soft, slightly warm sound with very good bass extension. So when I saw the amazing price for the PHA, I jumped on it to complete my Panda stack as I was sure there would not have enough units for everybody here :) ...so within a month I will connect the out rca's of this baby in the MKIII in rca's and will get a tube AND solid state setup with select source option on PHA's main switch ! Best of both worlds for such a few bucks !!! Just my 2 cents...hope this helps :) enjoy !
Is it possible to get a remote for this system? - I think it would mitigate some of the issues that some claim to have with hitting the right buttons.(Z Reviews) - I personally would use a remote as my primary way of interacting with the system.
I wanted to get the amp with the DAC but now that the amp has sold out is it a good idea for me to just get the DAC and then find another amp for it to go with, say a schiit magni 3? It just sucks that its sold out and i wonder if i dont buy the DAC (or whatever is left) right now i might have to wait forever to get another drop on these and at this price even just for the DAC it seems too good to pass? I'm think of driving k712's and potentially HD650's in the future. Thanks.

from where you got this 10ohm value, couldnt find it anywhere. if true my 32ohm he4xx would have issues
ge1987
They say that most of the Chi-Fi will have a high output impedance. If its using the TPA6120 then its a sure thing, unless they state otherwise. Generally speaking if a product/manufacturer has low output impedance they will be bragging about it, or so im told. Look at the FiiO K5 they clearly indicate that they have <1 Ohm on their website, same thing with the Objective 2 Amp, etc Then compare it to SMSL PHA, SMSL M6, FX Audio DAC X6/X7, Topping A30.... no info even if you message them on their website. Planar Magnetic headphones are not as sensitive to output impedance compared to Dynamic, again, as I have read. Output Impedance affects the dampening factor or the movement of the speaker diaphragm, which is not a thing for Planars because of how they produce sound compared to Dyanamic drivers. So, I totally messed this explanation, but definitely do your own research as others will explain this more coherently than I will ever be able to do so.
What's the output impedance on these?
Less than 100 sold and is SOLD OUT? If they were going to have so few of them they should have specify that. Here I'm waiting for my Direct Deposit to kick in and well "GAME OVER MEN, GAME OVER!
Sold Out :(

Hey guys, I bought whatever the $149 package buys you as I am still not sure what that brings lol, but I bought it to test it out and probably will not keep it, unless it blows me away in some way. If any of you wants it, I can ship it out when I am done looking at it for a day or so. Same price + shipping.

Let me know what you thinkg of the combo and what headphones your are connecting to it
can it power the hifiman he4xx (400i) with sufficient headroom?
ge1987
32Ω 330mW at THD = 0.01% - easy to drive your 35ohm cans
Paul_L
but that 93dB sensitivity
Not considering the few $ diff, this or Schiit Modi 3?
vtiwari
Buy this.
(and I haven’t even heard it, and I don’t need to compared to a Modi)
vtiwari
From my research they're comparable. I think the main differences between this stack and the Modi/Magni stack is that the Magni is rated for 600ohm and SMSL one is only 300. Also, the Magni has a volume knob which I think is way better than buttons.
Anyone know if this will have the juice to power ATH-R70x headphones at moderate levels?
KaneDWilliams
You'd do better with a Topping NX4 (high-gain mode) or upcoming Topping DX3 Pro. The R70x need quite a fair bit of power... this Sanskrit is fairly basic. I would not take any chances when they then won't go loud enough.
Info for everyone who finds it useful, not sure if it’s just my Sanskrit Pro unit (which otherwise is fully operational), but it seriously lacks resolution and fine detail compared to other DAC’s I have (Aune S6 –also AKM based, and SMSL M8 – Sabre based), it’s kind of soft sound. I’ve even went that far to open it and see what is inside, its legit version ,nothing out of the ordinary compared to SMSL board design pictures, looks authentic. So don’t really know what to think about it honestly. * to clarify, not purchased over Massdrop
Wow, the covrted panda stack. Would've bought one if it was 6 months ago.
What's the output impedance of headphone amp?
Grimsky1908
Output power: 32Ω 330mW at THD = 0.01%; 64Ω 545mW at THD = 0.008%; 150Ω 240mW at THD = 0.004%; 300Ω 122mW at THD = 0.003%
GreatMagician
This did not answer to my question. This only lists output power to different impedance headphones and total harmonic distortion at respective impedance/power. Output impedance of the headphone amp is not mentioned in specs listing and I cannot seem to find it anywhere.
For those wanting the LPS... The LPS is a very convenient optional piece. I had the entire stack and blow out my LPS when we took a power hit. My amp and dac ran perfectly without it and only required me to press one extra button. The stack itself did not suffer from any sound degradation in any way shape or form without it. It took me a long time to replace it but I eventually did and to be honest, all it did for me was complete the stack, nothing more. If you are interested in this amp and dac I would say go for it. I purchased mine when it was still at its peak price and frankly am not disappointed by the purchase. I don't use the amp very often since I mostly run balanced now but it is still nice to have for my headphones are not balanced. I have never had an issue running anything I own on it an will occasionally use it for everything from my 1More, Aeon, and HD600 to my LCD2 closed when the mood strikes. If you are on a budget, then I would say pick this up because you are not going to do better at this price. You can always do what I did and set up an alert on ebay for when someone posts one. I finally got my replacement from there and it only cost me $30 with shipping. Sometimes you just get lucky. Hope this helps.

Like the custom loop pc in the background too!
eparera
Thanks, I am a custom extreme pc builder and to be honest, my rig is probably the worst one I have ever built.. lol. I didn't really put a lot of time into it. I kinda of threw it together as quickly as I could because my old pc took a power hit and crap the bed. I really have to sit down and clean up the entire build from cable management in the back to the hard tubing because a couple of them are not properly aligned. As for going from the GSX 1000 to another amp, I would avoid it personally. The GSX does not have a passive or preamp output and so what I have found is that when I ran it to the amp the audio was distorted and hard to balance out. Now as for the Magni, I don't own one but did use my friends Modi 2 for a few days because my gear was en-route after the move. It was a nice piece of gear but I can't give a real assessment because I didn't play with it enough or run it with different headphones and amps. At the time, the only one thing I had was my SMSL sAp 9 and takstar 82 pro. If it is up to par with other Shiit products I would say that it is probably a good addition to your gear but would recommend running it as a second audio setup the way I do with mine. All I had to do to set it up was install a program called VoiceMeeter Banana, it is basically a soundboard program that allows you to setup multiple tracks (input audio and microphones) and output them to a single source on your computer. That keeps windows from losing its mind every time you plug in another audio device.

As for the Fosi Audio BT20A , I haven't use it, I use the SMSL AD18 nice little unit but did require a line conditioner when using the audio jack due to humming in the line. I ran that to my Bose 161 Speaker System to augment my soundbar w/ sub. When the wife isn't home I can throw on some tunes or a movie and jam out.. lol. As for the aesthetics, well to be honest, it would send my OCD into overdrive as well. The only reason I can deal with it with the MKii is because while they are not the same width, it does have a nice symmetry to it as long as I don't look at the length lol. If you are looking to add to your system, I would recommend the sanskrit pro since it is less than $100 on drop right now and you can add any amp to it that you want. While I have the whole panda stack the only part of it I even use anymore is the DAC. I hardly ever use the amp and the LPS is just a nice little whole system on/off switch. I don't know if you have tried balanced audio yet but will say that if you have not, you really should try it. especially with the 6XX, the only thing my tube amp is missing is balanced out which for now I will do without but I know that I will in the end have to buy one with it. I absolutely love balanced audio and can only imagine how good the 6xx is going to sound balanced and tubed. I am just going to guess that it is probably the best sound I could get considering that individually XLR balanced and tube over TRS sounds so amazing when compared to a straight TRS without the tube sound. I would suggest talking to some of your friends and try the sound on different outputs. You will be amazed at how the sound gets so much richer on each of them. Ok, that is enough out of me, Sorry I couldn't be more help with the gear your asking about. P.S. You don't need a high end computer to run VM Banana.
I was excited then disappointed - no lps
You don't need to LPS to run this combination.
Zeos has had this stack for years if anyone is on the fence.
Please add an option with the LPS. Assuming someone at Massdrop is reading the comments.
I see the LPS in one of the pictures, is it included?
SarreqTeryx
No.
You also don't get the laptop, headphones, headphone stand, speakers, desk, leather chair, pot plant or kettle shown in one of the pictures either, in case you were wondering :) Only what's listed in the description and the options at checkout.
I'm curious, If I get the combo, will the inter-connect RCA cables be included in the set as the entire Panda stack would?
DePon
I doubt it, I certainly wouldn't be expecting them to be included.
How would this compare to a Schiit Stack?
utarch00
Sonically? The same. Aesthetically, well... open your eyes.
spiritofjerry
thats deep
How would this amp do with 600 ohm headphones?
Load 16 more comments
They generally sell direct, and have great customer service...I doubt you'll be disappointed.
So my Liquid Spark is hooked up to my Grace SDAC as of this morning. While I've not given it the 100 hours of burn in they recommend, it sounds amazing. Excellent separation and low end, definitely a touch warmer than the Magni 3, not in a major way but it just feels "smooth". The volume knob has enough resistance that it feels satisfying to turn it. My Fidelio X2's are getting uncomfortable at around 10 on the dial, and the imbalance disappears amazingly low on the dial. It's lowest position is at 7.
$70 amp alone $95 dac alone $150 both n/a lps - hmm, too bad, wonder why?

Well good luck with that, but please be aware that your theory is 100% wrong and everyone else is 100% correct!
For $150 you'll get the headphone amp and the dac - nothing more. There won't be an LPS included. If you're not prepared to pay $150 for just those two items then I'd suggest cancelling your order before the drop ends.
Jaggi
Glad you clarified the not clear, you all knowing sensei.
If I want the DAC and the amp what am I going to spend? That is unclear here.
Lee2000
$150
CapnCook
So the 69 is for the amp and the DAC adds 80 more. Thanks
I have Micca PB42X powered speakers.
If I get this stack, I run USB from PC to DAC, RCA from DAC to amp. From the amp I can plug in my headphones and run RCA to my powered speakers? I will have to run it as pre amp/line out right? It won’t blow my speakers having an amp before the internal amp?
i need my own RCA as well right, they don’t include any?
Misterchao
Looks like you know what you're doing. PC->USB a to b->dac->rca out->amp->rcs out->rca speaker in RCAs, yes you will need your own, as they don't include any.
Isn't it supposed to be a very good unit? 69 seems very good power supply or no power supply...
Where is the power supply??!
GreatMagician
Agreed, no specifics for power adapter though package contents mentions it is included.
There is a picture of an auto volt brick with the rounded plug, but it would be nice to have that clearly indicated and or choice if plug.
I'm confused ... what"s included for 69.99?
Load 1 more comment
Confusing ... no? Maybe it's just me. Looks like it says amp 'and' DAC.
SMSL Sanskrit PHA Amp & Pro-B DAC bookmark_border $69.99 $239.99

FPantalone
Definitely confusing.
Can I power these without the SMSL power supply until I get one?
PANDAqq
Yes, it includes a brick type power supply. What's not included (or available as part of this drop) is the fancy optional linear power supply (which by many accounts looks great but has a negligible effect on sound quality).
Pictures show 3 different units, but only two are listed to purchase, but more importantly, why do I need 3 different units to power bookshelf speakers from my PC and on occasion listen with my headphones?
Nasp
It sounds like what you want is an integrated amplifier. The downside to going that route is that you can't swap components as your needs change, or you need more power. This headphone amp for instance won't be able to power some less efficient headphones, and similarly a number of bookshelf speakers can run off of 20 watts, but others will require more to sound their best.
So you can go spend $600 on a Sprout100 (includes phono), $230 on a BasX A-100 + $80-100 for a DAC, or $400 on an NAD D3020 V2 (TOSLINK only, includes phono, includes AptX). Or you can piece a system together to meet your needs, and tastes.
