Does anyone know if this amp was also labeled as the LineP A929 Headphone Amplifier? I understand that they have been sold under a number of different names.
Guys, I have a HiFiMan x Massdrop HE-4XX, will it compliment them well? I see this little amp has a lot of power... But what about sound quality?

I currently use my 4XX with an S.M.S.L M6 which uses basically the same amp circuit. It should drive them just fine.

Just got my SMSL yesterday and used it with my HE-4XX, the sound is great put the amp is not really strong enough to drive it to very loud levels. I had it crank to max and the sound level was still bearable. Get a more powerful amp if you have the HE-4XX us my recommendation.
Now this is a more logical match to the $200 headphones sold here.

Assuming you ever get it...
Massdrop: A good idea. Get a discount for a longer wait to get the item. I'd say 60% of the items I've bought here haven't shipped on time. C'mon. Is $13 really worth a month and a half wait?

Maybe you just have bad luck. I haven't had one thing ship later than estimated.
Anyone from Massdrop want to let us know what's going on? Still hasn't shipped.

Yea im thinking the same. I was expecting it to ship on the 29th of November. An update would be nice
Can i even get this before christmas time ? By the looks of it i don't really think so sadly ...

Now i'm gonna have a pair of hd6xx and i won't be able to amp them till next year :(

If you ordered from the last batch you should get them around mid December. If you're wanting the drop to come back in time for you to get them by Christmas you may be better off ordering the sApII or the sApVI from Amazon instead.
The main issue with these is build quality. My unit (not from massdrop) has a loose knob for example. Even if your unit has no issue as obvious as that I would still be careful in general when handling it.
Other than that, if you compare its power specs to the O2 amp for example, you'll notice they are nearly identical which shows the power to performance going on here. You'll be able to power anything 700$> so if you just want to buy a cheap amp that does what it needs to do, this is a good choice(also it's pretty small).
Edit: I forgot to mention something, this also has channel imbalance at very low volume which can get annoying. If you have easy to run cans(don't get this for IEMs for example).
I might not recommend this for the HD6XX as I've found this to be slightly bright, and the HD6XX are supposedly bright highs (haven't heard it yet though) so it might be fatiguing with loud high pitched music.
That's up to your ears though.

There is a bit of hiss on this at high levels and the low level is a bit imbalanced. The price is decent so if you have some 250 ohm beyerdynamics this would be a decent cheap risk. Not for IEMs or planars though (why you'd listen to IEMs on a desktop amp, that's on you :P )

Ah, well I will change my tune then. I've sworn I've seen people say it gets bright but it may just be their ears or setup.

I will say the Magni 3 brings out more lows and mids, the highs don't get the same boost and seem harder to cut through the mids, so do be aware of that compared to this amp, this brings more highs forward IMO

I have the SAPII and HD6xx, and the brightness depends more on the DAC than the amp, I feel like the amp is excellent (for the price), it amplifies without coloring the sound too much.

The highs are a bit more clear than with for example HD518, but far from fatiguing. It's a great "budget" audiophile combo I think.
Don´t buy this unless you have very power hungry headphones.
It has 16 ohm output impedance and it has channel inbalance at low volumes, which makes it unsuitible for easy to drive cans or iems.

Owns this and the HD6XX
Drives them easily, sounds clean.... I gotta say I recommend!
And in this price point, it's a no brainer
Magni 3 and a DAC with a wall plug and without a headphones jack. Magni 3 runs about $120 after shipping if you want it quickly ($16 for USPS priority on their site, haven't seen it elsewhere yet) and the DAC sounds cleanest if it has a wall plug and use optical since that reduces USB port noise (they are getting better but might still have some noise) but don't let that discourage you. The Magni 3 is amazing for the price so long as you don't worry about balanced plugs, but this doesn't have balanced either so you probably aren't too worried.

Hopefully if Schiit decides to clear out old stock they can put some magni 2 on massdrop. That might be a great deal.
I have owned one of these for about 2 years. A phenomenal performer. Very clean and powerful. Will drive any headphones.
I modded mine by replacing the switching power supply with a linear regulated PSU, and upgraded the DC input cable from the PSU.
Unless the amp breaks, I don't see any reason to ever upgrade again.
Feed the output from your DAC into this and you will be in heaven.

Thanks to mention that. I also have one more question want to ask: I can hear a slightly noise when I use this amp for low impedance headphones. That is the only thing I complain about. So can I kill this slightly noise if I upgrade to linear power supply for this amplifier?
Yiming
The lowest impedance phones I use are 32 ohms. I've never heard hiss or hum with no signal fed and volume on max.
The whole point of a headphone amp is to drive higher impedance or insensitive phones.
The upgrades I did improved clarity, detail and dynamism, but not by a huge amount.
I suggest you get some better, high impedance headphones.
