Why even bother with spyderco at this point massdrop? I thought the whole point of your company was to bring knives at a group price. How is full market on every spyderco a group price? If they don't want to participate be done with them and move on. But don't present full price spydercos to your loyal customers like they are getting a deal.

Trvr2940I have to agree, with 1.2 Million members in the Blades community the best we can get is MAP pricing? What's the point of waiting for a drop on something you can get anytime for the same price?

[Points to the pachyderm in the room:] $84.45 at big A w/ two-day shipping for the DF2...
You do know that's a known problem, right? Even for knives sold directly by Amazon because of the way they restock items. Do you really think the drones in the Amazon warehouse are experts in identifying counterfeit knives? Nope. They get a return, check that there's a knife in the box and throw it in the bin to be shipped to the next customer. And some of the fakes look close enough that you can't tell unless you have a legit knife to compare it to. You might be mildly disappointed with your new "Spyderco". Seems you have to sharpen it more often than you should. You chalk it up to bad heat treatment and their reputation being overblown. until you strip a screw in a year, send it in for warranty and find out it's a knockoff in 440a. Massdrop rarely has deals for US buyers on Spyderco, but don't buy knives from Amazon. There are plenty of reputable knife dealers online that cost the same and can tell the difference. Bladehq, knife center, Dlt, etc.

I love my dragonfly and carry it almost every day. Very tempted to get a ZDP one. There is just one issue that I have to bring up. The pocket clip comes loose every few weeks. I've stopped using the clip because I'm tired of attaching it. I've almost lost it twice because of this. Does anyone else have the problem? It seems like a pretty poor design compared to the 3 screw clips.

Nothing special here. Also, the Spyderco Manbug has about the same cutting length and costs a lot less, even with ZDP-189.
Well that's great, I preordered within the first week, so delivery must be soon. I do wonder if Spyderco finished production on the Spyder edge knives first, and the plain edge are just ”sold out” because they haven't made stock yet but want the ordering page to be open. Call me cynical (I’m trying to stay patient and not hyped! LoL!), but if Para 3 LW were sold and shipped earlier than yesterday, I would assume that SOMEBODY who was into the bleeding edge would have at least posted an unboxing video... So far, I just saw shot show previews and a disassembly video... By spyderco themselves: https://youtu.be/Bq0c5JqCtU4 Soon as mine arrives, I’m doing an unboxing/first impressions video that day!
EvshrugI think it just went live on their website yesterday. Plain edge either wasn't available or sold out immediately.

bscottkingI used to feel same way about Amazon. Still do much of my shopping there because pricing and delivery speed hard to beat. Now that they have a near monopoly on internet shopping, I have been less than impressed with customer service more recently. I try to support local or smaller business when I can. Massdrop's customer service hasn't always been the best but they have made phenomenal improvement lately. It used to take a long time to get an email response but service is top notch now. Massdrop customer service has always exceeded my expectations. So when I can wait, happier to shop here. Forgive my off-topic rant. It's easy to make comparison to the internet giant, but I have more fun and get better service here. Massdrop can't always do a better price but much better community here and they honestly value customer feedback. Just my two bits.
dgt5While I think Massdrop is becoming bigger and bigger, I do still enjoy shopping here and seeing the active discussion boards. I also think Massdrop curates cool stuff! I think Spyderco pushed Massdrop to stick to MAP, MAP can be an important insurance for small companies and dealer loyalty. Exclusive scales or bonus items may be the way for Massdrop to go.

Nice knife. Market price. Wish Massdrop would do a minimum advertised price workaround like they do with other items: forgo case for $15 discount or coupon discount at checkout. Would rather shop here.... have more fun here and get better service than at the internet giant.

Love my little ZDP-189 Dragonfly, it's the perfect knife for my road cycling setup. It's barely over an ounce and slips easily into my saddle bag next to my spare tube, levers, CO2, compact first aid kit, and cards (ID, CC, insurance). I've never had to sharpen it, and I haven't spotted any corrosion even after 2yrs storage in an outdoor shed.

JonasHeinemanI understand Massdrop has to deal with the minimum advertised price but they have done better in the past at sweetening the deal. Discount for forgoing an accessory, coupons at checkout, limited edition, blue box, etc. Better price is only part of the reason why I prefer to shop here.... I come for the better deal/experience. Hope Massdrop can be more creative in the future.

Color is hard to see. Wish they would run a comparison to a black version.

AggelosI own a DF. Looks pretty similar to what I’m seeing on screen. Dark dark grey with a hit of British racing green. Even in person it’s a hard color to describe but I’m a fan and I usually pick black scales when there’s a choice. One of my favorite knives.

How do you suppose this all ends? I'm guessing Spyderco has more colors than you have money!

If you’re going too use a out of the ordinary steel, ditch the low rent FRN scales, add something unique to go with the steel.Like Brg scales in micarta.
