I just bought the HD58x Jubilee Headphones today. What's the best or basic amp for this headphones? NuForce uDAC3 or Magni 3? it's primarily for traveling, music, gaming console. Any suggestions? I'm also on a budget...thanks!
bryan23usThe NuForce uDAC3 is a better overall package since it's more than just an amp it's also a DAC, and is cheaper compared to the Magni 3.
NuForce is a good brand but AudioEngine is better, but also more expensive.
With my setup I use a Black Dragonfly DAC/AMP by AudioQuest. It's just a USB dongle essentially so much more portable. The others have components in boxy housings, not so good for traveling with.
AshenEclipseThanks for the recommendation. So far all good reviews from Black Dragonfly DAC/AMP and it's portable. I have a MacBook Pro and iPhone so I just need a USB dongle. How about for gaming console like PS4 Pro? what external amp can i use? thank you.
bryan23usI have both, Jubilee and this NuForce, They make a good couple. Sound quality is great for me, i have tested games and music, both great experiences.
bryan23usI apologize for getting back to this so late. Pairing a DAC/AMP with a console would be a more tricky matter for sure.
I'm honestly not able to give a recommendation for that since I stopped console gaming years ago. I would recommend just doing some research on various portable DAC/AMPs and see what manufacturers actually mention compatibility with consoles.
AshenEclipsesorry to interrupt but you are misleading i had a udac 2. the nuforce udac is a very nice sounding product with overheating issues(it also stops working sometimes and doesn't get along with some os) so it's not better than anything on the market(udac 3 was new about 5 years ago ). the magni is a better headphone amp but has a very different sound signature.audioengine is not better and not pricier than nuforce .audioengine is limited to entry level desktop systems while nuforce made hi end audio products. their best product is the hdp though.
